City of Parramatta needed to enhance its scalability, flexibility, and overall IT performance as part of its digital transformation strategy. This required a large-scale migration of 350 servers from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. The challenge was to ensure a seamless transition without disrupting operations, while also minimizing their footprint in Azure.
Cloud Context began with a comprehensive assessment of the existing on-premises infrastructure, analysing the workload, dependencies, and performance requirements of the 350 VMs. Detailed planning was conducted, including selecting the appropriate Azure services and designing a migration roadmap. The migration was executed in phases using industry-leading tools and best practices to securely transfer the VMs to Azure, ensuring data integrity and system availability. Post- migration, extensive testing was conducted to verify functionality, and the cloud infrastructure was optimized to enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve resource management. Comprehensive documentation and training were provided to the City of Parramatta’s IT team, along with ongoing support.
The successful migration enabled the City of Parramatta to leverage Azure’s advanced capabilities, ensuring a robust, scalable, and future-ready IT infrastructure.
